The Wrap: Jesuit soccer meets their goals
On Tuesday, Feb. 13, Jesuit High School Sacramento’s nationally ranked varsity soccer team faced off against Central Valley High School. Jesuit is ranked number one in the section and CVHS was ranked number 12. With great games from midfielder James Andrew ’24 and forward Kellen Jacot ’24, Jesuit won 3-1 and remains strong as the playoffs progress.
Bradley Williams ’24: a leader to remember
Despite being at Jesuit High School Sacramento for only two years, Bradley Williams ’24 has already made a name for himself as a school leader, a reputation that saw him elected student body president as a senior.
Aiming for a blue banner
On Wednesday, Feb. 7, the Jesuit High School Sacramento varsity basketball team won their most crucial game of the season to that point. In a bout against Sheldon High School, Jesuit won 55-39 to tie for first in the league rankings with SHS. Two days later, on Friday, Feb. 9, Jesuit triumphed again on an 84-58 victory over Pleasant Grove High School.
Cole Epperson ’24: playing at a high level
Cole Epperson ’24 has been instrumental in leading Jesuit to a Delta League Championship this year. As one of Jesuit’s starting forwards, he’s made a name for himself by impacting every game on offense and defense.

“Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” is the latest installment of the “Mission Impossible” (MI) franchise and was released in theaters on July 12, 2023. The movie was released to streaming for Paramount Plus subscribers on Thursday, Jan. 25 2024. The movie is also available to buy on Amazon Prime and Apple TV. It was directed and written by Christopher McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen. The film contains thrilling action and has a unique take on Artificial Intelligence (AI), but its long action scenes and ambiguity can hamper the experience.

He’s here, he’s there, Jonah Reynolds ‘24 is everywhere. A top track athlete, robotics team leader, and member of student council, Jonah does a little bit of everything – and everywhere he goes, he makes Jesuit High School Sacramento a brighter place to be.

The Wrap: Victory at American River Drive
In a decisive yet relatively low-scoring game against Rio Americano High School, Jesuit High School Sacramento defeated their Carmichael rivals on the hardwood, winning the “Battle for American River Drive.” The game ended with a final score of 51-38 and gave Jesuit their 16th win on the season.
Opinion: Chiefs hold the advantage in Super Bowl LVIII
Super Bowl LVIII will be held on Sunday, Feb.11, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Many Jesuit students will be tuning in as the game will feature a familiar matchup: Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers will face off against Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs. The two teams played each other in Super Bowl LIV four years ago, where the Chiefs won 31-20 thanks to a dominant final 8 minutes where they outscored the 49ers 21-0.

Gambling is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. According to data collected by the Federal Trade Commission, as stated in their “Daily News” press release, the global online gambling market size was valued at 63.53 billion United States Dollars (USD) in 2022, and is expected to grow quickly at a compound annual growth rate of 11.7% from 2023 to 2030.
Promoting student well-being from the Dean’s Office
This year a familiar face has rejoined the Jesuit High School Sacramento community. Dean Joey Elftmann from the class of 2000 has quickly become known throughout the community as a friendly and outgoing face, who eagerly works to ensure the wellbeing of all students.
Basketball mid-league review
From Jan. 10 to Jan. 19, the Jesuit High School Sacramento varsity basketball team played a total of six games. Jesuit won four of these games and lost the other two, giving them a record of 14-7 for the season and 5-1 in league play.
Jesuit wins Holy Hoops in a nail biter
This year’s Holy Hoops game between Jesuit High School Sacramento and Christian Brothers High School couldn’t have been closer. The two teams were evenly matched for the whole game, with neither team ever building a definitive lead.
Gardening Club sprouts interest in plant care
Last year, Jayden Canio ’25 and Justin Paredes ’25 founded the Gardening Club. Since its inception, the club has introduced students to the importance of plant care and how rewarding garden work can be.
Jesuit swim team prepares for final Delta League Championship
Jesuit High School Sacramento had a hugely successful 2023 swim and dive season, winning the league title, the section title, and finished 10th in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Swimming and Diving Championships. This year, the team aims to build upon that success and dominate in Jesuit’s final year in the Delta League.
Caleb Dixon ’24: leading by doing, on and off the field
Caleb Dixon ’24 is renowned for his charismatic leadership and his caring heart. As a star football player, a member of the senior retreat team, and president of Black Student Union (BSU), his impact has been felt all over Jesuit High School Sacramento’s campus.
Opinion: “The Creator”: stunning visuals can’t save a mediocre story
Filmmaker Gareth Edwards’s much-anticipated original sci-fi film “The Creator” was released in theaters on Sept. 30, 2023, and it failed to live up to the hype. This movie is disappointing because it feels as cookie-cutter and one-note as the typical blockbuster fare, despite it being one of the few sci-fi movies released in the past few years that is not attached to a series.
Moorings promotes creative expression from students
Moorings is Jesuit High School Sacramento’s student-run literary arts journal, made to present student art in many different mediums. The journal showcases paintings, sculptures, photography, poetry, and prose.
